winter’s foes

15 February 2010

the old kings of winter went up from their thrones
warring with windswords and cut to the bones
those unwilling mortals who them would dare to defy
four grueling months of starved, blanketed cries;
the the old kings of winter, one thing they knew not–
for while they were glorious and in the winter campaigns
dragons care not, nor are bound by their chains.

    “Warring with windswords” — I can picture it. The whole poem is that vivid.

    Thanks Glynn! Just a moment of imagination while I was watching it snow the other day.
