world without end

19 February 2010

sunlight in the wooded glen
where fire and life still burn
in springlike days, now and again,
despite that fickle, prickly wyrm
of pride that still prowls
and roars about from time to time;
there, the green-eyed wolf growls
not, nor stalks for prey in rhymes
both subltle and simplistic.
here, for but a moment, do i see
the reality, the paradise of rustic
tranquility, of Arcadian bliss:
but even this earthly shadow fades
before the knowledge of greater than this
an idyll of perpetual, eternal union arrayed
in glory, the Light from Light eternal, world without end. Amen.
