chasing the cat

3 March 2010

What strange madness doth us posses
To quest ever after elusive prey
(That strange & flighty temptress, Desire)
Like chasing a cat
Through the confines of a house;
And when we do at last
Transform, momentarily, cat to mouse
She changes swiftly back
With sharp claws our grasping arms maul
Spitting an unholy hiss–
Ever and always is this:
The chasing of Desire’s kiss.

    If you’ve ever had a cat, you know exactly what this poem means. Nice one (the poem, not the cat).

    *laughs* Holly needs this poem. Maybe I’ll make her memorize it.

    This one was definitely inspired by a hilarious moment of conversation between Karen and myself.
