Help Me, Mother

14 May 2010

Swan-white, O Lady, fair!
Tenderest mother, pure virgin and holy
Thou unwedded bride of God,
Have mercy upon thy poor servant
Lost and alone on the road
In need of thy love and thy mercy,
Inexhaustible; O Mother, I pray thee,
Bring me out of my necessities
And to thy purity let me
A wanton and willful sinner
Take refuge, like a ship in a storm,
For I am exhausted–I can swim on my own
No more.
Pray to thy Son and our God for me,
O all blessed and glorious Lady:
Beg Him to change the murky water of my soul
To the finest, most precious wine of gladness!
