silent speeches

27 May 2010

some words are best said silently
the forkéd tongue locked behind
porcelain prison bars in the mouth
and the vanity and self-doubt
caused by years of isolation
(resistance weakened, diseases abound)
bring quickly to ruin any progress
the soul has made;
and the day comes again, the sun
streaming in golden hues, almost liquid,
but the insipid sin still lies within
turning and churning and burning
like the cruel wyrm it is–
and the green-eyed wolf within
writhes most foully.
